County Under-18’s Boys

Warwickshire Under-18’s Boys team will be pleased to get some ring rustiness out of their system after starting their season with a battling 9½-8½ friendly defeat to Nottinghamshire at Sutton Coldfield.
With the bad weather restricting opportunities to play golf in recent weeks, the team looked in good touch in the morning foursomes as new Captain Adam Perks and 2019 Boys Champion Seb Cave helped the side open up a 4-2 lead.
Alex Ford and Sam Easterbrook won 2&1, Charlie Lamb and Chanon James added another home point, before the two youngest players Oliver Clark and Ryan Gavin combined brilliantly to secure a 4&2 victory.

The visitors claimed the first two points in the afternoon singles, but Ford strolled to a 7&5 win to give Warwickshire the lead, before Alex Spencer took the last three holes to extend the home advantage.
Clark recorded another excellent win, while Lamb halved his match, but four defeats in the middle order meant the host county needed to grab both the last two points to snatch victory.
Although 13-year-old Gavin capped a fine a debut with a win on the 15th hole, Warwickshire were unable to close out the match as Notts took the remaining point in the darkness on the last hole.
